The cruise was a wonderful way to see multiple Hawaiian islands without having to pack and unpack and change hotels multiple times. The food was good and the service was excellent. Our balcony cabin for three was too tight. Even with two people it would have been too tight because the space to walk between the foot of the bed and the wall was too narrow. An additional 18” would have made a huge difference Luckily you spend most of your time off of the boat. The staff and activities were fine. The boat is attractive and clean. The entertainment was ok. The shore excursions were expensive-especially since we were x3. We opted to rent cars in most ports of call and see the sights. That worked out well. The rental car places were either close to port or provided a shuttle. We had NCL book our flights and a 2 day extension at Hilton Hawaiian Village. This was a mistake. The airfare was no lower than what I could have booked, but it was convenient and I wanted to make sure it coordinated well with embarkation. Even though the seats were paid for months in advance and were not basic economy or discount seats, our flight to Hawaii was very disappointing. The airline said that the seats purchased by the airline could not be assigned until we checked in, but that they would be good seats—this was not the case. They were literally assigned 15 minutes before we boarded and were in the last row and did not recline. This is not acceptable for a long trip like a flight to Hawaii. Our day started at 1:00am in East Texas. We drove to Dallas and caught our 6:00am flight to LAX still with unassigned seats for our LAX to HNL flight. It was frustrating not knowing if we were going to have seats or not when we arrived in LAX. What we were charged for the Hilton in HNL was more than I could have booked it for myself. I would suggest getting your own plane tickets and your own hotel if you are extending your stay.
