This cruise was chosen because it left from New Orleans and I had never been to that city and thought it was a good opportunity to visit the city before going on the cruise. I think that because there were so many young adults, teenagers and children on board, that it made the ship seem very crowded. There seemed to always be a problem finding seating in the common areas such as the pool (impossible), the atrium and the outdoor decks. Also, the casino location in the center of deck 7, the area of the floating steps which opens up from deck 6 to deck 8 had a terrible smell from the people smoking while playing. The free restaurants served good food as did the specialty restaurants. The buffet was ok. The food presentation at the buffet needs improvement. The entertainment was ok, nothing great. There seemed to be a lot of staff in training so there were times when help was needed for them. The ports were very nice and I enjoyed 2 private tours to ruins which I had arranged in advance. We did have trouble making reservations in the restaurants because Norwegian did not let me know that reservations had to be made before coming on board and that was very disappointing. I also did not like the fact that if you ordered a drink, a tip was automatically added on to the cost of the drink. They charged $14,95 per day for tips for the crew but still added on this additional charge. This is the first tine I cruised with Norwegian and I don't think I will do it again,.

Cabin Review

Inside Stateroom

Cabin IB

The cabin was a little smaller than average. The bathroom was very nice and we didn't have to deal with smelly shower curtain as it had a plexiglass enclosure. We had a problem with noise above our heads every night at 12:30 AM with carts rolling back and forth on a floor that had no carpeting. There was a lot of storage space.

Port Reviews

Cozumel

We took an tour through Viator to the Tulum Ruins. It was a very good tour and took the whole day with lunch included for a modest fee.

Harvest Caye

The weather wasn't good so we just went off the ship and walked around the beach area. It was very nice.

Costa Maya

We took a tour to the Chacchoben Ruins about 1 hour from Costa Maya. The tour company was The Native Choice. We had a wonderful tour guide named Juan, who is Mayan and also an archaeologist and who knew a lot of history about the Mayans. He made the tour very interesting.
