Four couples traveling on a quick four night coastal out of LA. We all live local so anytime we can sail without involving an airport it's a wonderful thing. The weather was quite changing during our cruise....beginning with rain/cold embarkation and high seas throughout the voyage really. But sail away was at least dry. One of our couples were cruise virgins so the rough seas did not help there first experience, but the ship provided a good experience overall for them, they filled out future cruise papers as did us all. The Ruby looks great with new carpets throughout and in cabins, the new beds are fabulous as well. New food venues at the pools are good change, the pizza choices are great, meatball ficocia was exceptional. We tried the Ernesto burger beer combo, a server gets your beer and brings the food to your table but it took a long time to get there. The burger is good, but not compared with Guy's burgers on Carnival. The Ruby has some plumbing issues they need to repair.....our cabin had a major blockage shutting down all toilets in cabins using it but it was fixed quickly. Our friends on Baja deck had a major water leak in their bathroom forced them into another cabin on the last night....at least they had another cabin to put them. Entertainment was quite good we all thought.....aside from "colors of the world" the singer "Teacake" was terrific and comedian Jimal very good without using foul language or politics which we were thankful for. We utilized the Elite/Platinum lounge up in skywalkers each evening and enjoyed that treat.....the drink specials were good choices. Overall great cruise for everyone.....food in MDR was good and service excellent. Show times have been adjusted to 7:45pm and 9:45pm which works for traditional dining times. We sail the Royal in six weeks looking forward to that one. We had an obstructed view window cabin on Emerald deck we liked. The new nightlight (motion activated) is a great idea.
