This is our third cruise on the Equinix and fifth in Celebrity. We have been on other lines, Holland America, Princess, NCL, MCS and I believe that Celebrity out performs them all in service, food and entertainment. This cruise was no different, except that we have noted that the industry quality in general has gone down. No more are the chocolate or seafood extravaganzas, and the entertainment is a bit sub par. On this cruise the big hype was the silent disco- where everyone was wearing headphones and listening to music. Michael’s club used to be a cool scotch bar with jazz - now it’s a quiet sitting room that is reserved for suite room guests. I asked what happened to the scotch bar - I was told that they were not “marketing for that demographic” - hmm maybe it’s time to look for a cruise ship that fits me better? Maybe Costa? I think the issue is that the cruise lines have tried to keep the price point down by cutting corners. My first cruise on Holland in 1998 cost 2500 with a veranda. I felt like I was eating in 5 star restaurant. I enjoyed wearing a jacket and a tie each night. It was special. This cruise came with two perks and cost me 2600 with a veranda. Not much difference in price but a lot in experience. I’d rather spend more and get more. But after all that is said - for this price class, Celebrity out shines them all.
Very clean inside and spacious. Our room attendant was very polite and helpful. But no little towel animals to welcome us home after eating.
