We chose Scenic because it had been rated as one of the top 3 river cruise lines.

We booked one of two "Panoramic Suites" (#337) and spent a small fortune to have this experience....the "river cruise" experience. For us, it was more about the ship and the trip down the Danube, our deluxe (fabulous) cabin and our butler (Christian, who by the way, was excellent). The day trips were an "extra" for us. We booked for the river cruise, not so much the day trips.

Our trip of a lifetime in September was to begin on Scenic Amber, however, from day one, we never saw Amber. We were put on the sister ship "Jasper" in Nuremberg. Initially, when deciding which cruise to take, we chose Amber because it was a newer ship, so being switched to Jasper last minute was disappointing. We stayed in Nuremberg (as planned) overnight and spent the following day in Nuremberg (as planned). We left Nuremberg and headed to Regensburg through the "canal" (not on the Danube yet)...through the locks, not anything (at all) interesting to see on trip from Nuremberg to Regensburg. Read more
