We chose this Cruise because of previous experience with Princess and Alaska. Princess made some changes to the Ship that we were not thrilled with. Adding rooms and moving Fitness center to Deck 6 Aft was horrible decision. It 1) cut off the jogging/walking track, 2) created a horrible Fitness Center with no windows or showers. We had a Balcony room and absolutely hated the shower. Very tight and narrow with a curtain that stuck to the side of your body while showering and causing the floor to fill with water. A door would have been better decision. Alaska is amazing, the scenery was spectacular, great ports, great entertainment, average food. Stateroom attendant was outstanding, dining room staff where below average. Head server never stopped at table, main server was nice, never attempted to remember our names, assistant server did not take note of our dining/beverage habits. Main server was not very talkative, disappeared after deserts were put down. The dining team did not work well together. Food was average. The shows in the evening were outstanding and high quality. We were a group of 11 on a 50th Anniversary Cruise. I would travel Princess again, but I would opt for a ship other than the Island Princess.
Good - Balcony was nice, Cabin was roomy, bed was comfortable, lot's of storage space.
Bad - Bathroom. Too small, shower curtain is bad idea, shower is so small, curtain sticks to body and causes water to splash out onto floor.
Did 3 days on our own. Went to Victoria and Butchart Gardens. AMAZING!!
Went to Mendenhall Glacier. Took city bus out, taxi back. (We do not recommend taking city bus. Took too long, and dropped us off over a mile from the entrance).
Walked out to graveyard and up to waterfalls. Saw specks of gold in the sand along riverbed.
Was nice, did the hike up through the Tongass.
