Viking does a quality river cruise. The room accommodations, daily communications, service and food were excellent. At no time did we ever not know the when, where and what's of our cruise. Our shore excursion guides were very professional offering wonderful background info and courteous service. My wife and I are in our late 60's, but we were able to endure the walking tours without much walking discomfort. I think one of the most favorable things other than the beautiful scenic surroundings we took in was the personal service offered by the staff. By the second day many of the staff knew us by name and really gave us a warm welcome. Our evening dinners with the guests on the ship were delightful, and still communicate with one couple. We are now considering a Viking Ocean cruise from Barcelona to Rome in 2020 since they offer a smaller cruise liner than the mega ships.
