From the standpoint of someone with a disability, the AotS was the best accessible ship I’ve ever sailed on. All the public doors were automatic allowing me easy access all over the ship. All the public restrooms also had a push button door opener, and inside the restrooms is a private accessible bathroom with sink inside. I really appreciated this as it can be difficult to maneuver into an accessible stall. Also, the ship staff were always happy to assist. We also had an accessible balcony stateroom which was easy to move around in with my scooter. For all the accessible features on AotS, I give them five-solid stars!
This was my first time sailing Royal as well as my first mega ship. I’ll start with the pros. Its accessible features as previously mentioned, the ship is beautiful, service was great, and it didn’t feel like you were on a ship. The cons. Way too many people…worse on sea days, too much selling/upselling, Windjammer Cafe was too tiny, their special sales felt like a Black Friday mob especially for the $10 shirts, the photo studio was just a mess…our folder was empty and lots of photos we took couldn’t be found in their system…which was useless, and there were windows in the public areas to see outside unless you went to the jogging track, Boardwalk or to the pool. Things that we’re just okay; the food and the entertainment.
For this particular sailing, two of the three ports were canceled due to weather, which meant we had a total of five sea days. It was rough, and I’m not talking about the ocean.
Easy access to the forward elevators which aren't as hectic like the others.
