This cruise was a dream come true. It was our first cruise and one we will always remember.
My husband wanted to show me Eastern Europe where he worked many years. We decided to fly into Budapest two days early to recuperate from jet lag and to walk around the city on our own. When we walked onto the Embla we were warmly greeted with smiling faces by the entire crew, and it remained that way throughout the cruise. The crew was first rate and many were from the countries we were visiting. Many of them had interesting stories to share if you asked. Violetta, our tour director, was amazing and put together tours and lectures that enriched and enhanced our Eastern European experience. I learned so much about this part of the world. All of tour guides were quite knowledgeable and obviously chosen with care.We loved the food, particularly the foods of each country we visited. Dinner was always special, but breakfast time was a great start with chef Jiggs serving his fantastic omelets. ( I did gain a few pounds, but it was worth it!) We also met some very interesting people and made some wonderful new friends. I would certainly urge anyone wishing to take a river cruise to travel with Viking.
Our cabin was perfect for the amount of time we spent in it. We had everything we needed...
plenty of storage space, a comfortable bed and a lovely balcony. Everything was spotless and kept that way by our personable, rarely seen room steward. Mijailo left some amazing towel shaped swans along with sparkling wine to celebrate our anniversary. We felt very special!
