Sail Date: May 2018
Cabin: Mid-Ship Mini-Suite with Balcony

We've been sailing with NCL and much prefer this size ship over the mega ships. This particular itinerary gave us the opportunity to see 10 cities in 12 days covering much of the UK. Essentially, our floating hotel moved at night. We were a little concerned about 12 days but being somewhere new most every day made the days go by fast. In fact, the two sea days were very welcome and allowed us to lay back and relax. Embarkation and debarkation went fine. We chose to upgrade to the specialty dining package for all but one night. It was very nice to have a 90 minute, high quality meal with excellent service each and every night. Since there were six of us, we made our pre-sail reservations as soon as they became available on the website. This is highly recommended as the prime 6:00 to 7:30 spots fill up fast. Each morning we ate at the Grand Pacific and pretty much skipped lunch unless it were to grab a piece or two of pizza from the buffet. We did get off the ship at each port and for the most part explored on our own utilizing cabs, trains and buses to see what we wanted to see. We only utilized the ship tours twice and that was to ensure that we made it back before departure. Both Stonehenge and St Andrews required quite a bit of travel by motor coach bus otherwise we could get were we wanted usually in less than an hour. The ship entertainment was very good. The big shows in the evening were high quality and usually lasted about 40-45 minutes. The smaller venue entertainers were good and each had their loyal followers. As for the other passengers, the average age was 63 with 1500 Americans, 400 Canadians, 300 from the UK and 200 from all the rest of the world. It was told to us that there were only 22 passengers under the age of 18 and most of them were infants. Bottom line, everyone was polite and always prompt and there was little need for the outdoor activities (swimming, slides, etc) usually associated with a Caribbean cruise. In addition the temperature ranged from cloudy and in the 40's to sunny and in the low 60's so being outside with a 25 mph wind was not so pleasant. Our cabin was located on deck 11 and we loved being only one level away from coffee and juice at the Garden buffet. Our room steward took care of our cabin and did a great job each and every day. We found the mini suite balcony room plenty big enough to handle the two of us and all our belongings quite nicely. In all, we found the ship, cabin, dining, entertainment, activities and service to be excellent. I have been reading these reviews for almost a year and find it amazing that people find so much to complain about. NCL like any other business is in business to make money and provide a service that people will enjoy and and receive value. For the most part, they do this quite well and keep a 1000' floating hotel with 2400 guests fed and entertained 24/7. We will continue to cruise with NCL and appreciate the value of our floating hotel.
