We chose this cruise with Celebrity for the sunshine in the southern Caribbean after a long Norwegian winter. Having cruised on Equinox before we knew what to expect but captain Kate and Maarten the cruise director certainly made a difference to our cruise experience.

Captain Kate,the first female captain in the fleet, was visible on board both to meet the passengers and take photos eg on «formal» nights, attended some evening performances and had a daily broadcast each morning at ten which included not only information but also words of wisdom and a quiz question to think about til the next day. Captain Kate even took the time to say goodbye to each passengers on leaving the ship. We thought this was amazing and something we had never experienced before and we have been cruising since 2000.

Maarten, the young Belgian cruise director was a breath of fresh air. Gone were the jokes about socks that we had endured each night on our last cruise and in were video snipnets from passengers and crew eg on Mother’s Day. Another unexpected touch was that all Mums received a red rose at the table on Mothers day. Read more
