The ports of call made our decision to choose this ship. This was my tenth cruise and my first with Royal. I had heard so much hype but I was sadly disappointed. Embarkation and disembarkation were fine. The decor is fine and doesn't change my mind on a cruise. I have had cabins inside, port hole and balcony. We were four sisters so we chose inside cabins. They were the smallest I have ever experienced. The bathroom was tiny and I never could pull the shower curtain just due to space. The entertainment is lacking terribly on this ship. The production were so outdated and just plain awful. During the Pure Country show I sore the girls wigs made them look like cabbage patch dolls. We are in our 50's and 60's however a tablemate in her 20's voiced the same concern that the productions were outdated. We had early dining and every evening the after dinner show time was moved around so it was never consistent. Many nights there were hours we were wandering around looking for something to do. The casino usual won (literally). The comedian and the hypnotist were good and we enjoyed their shows. The food was so mediocre that we went to Windjammers instead for four nights. The oddest thing to me was the lack of food options. Yes, I have been on larger ships were there is a deli or fish & chips, pizza something available all the time. We returned to the ship after shore excursions to find that Windjammer had closed at 3pm and the dining room would reopen at 5:30-6pm. Two of us had the soft drink program. Ugh please do away with the cups!! It is often hard to get to the three drink stations (dining area closed) and then you drag it around with you all the time. Many times I saw people who had to take it with them into the bathroom. Use the sticker, a bracelet something else. Our room attendant was kind and upbeat and kept the room clean. The big screen outside by the pool CONSTANTLY loops the same trivia and video. I wanted to scream!! They did offer a few movies so please at least reshow them or find a different program for the seven days! It was the same if you tuned into tv in your room. Same exact shows over and over. The bar staff did well with the drinks. The adult only area is a pool that is enclosed. Not ideal for the Caribbean but if they would enforce the rules of NO one under 16 that would have been a plus. The very first day we had little kids in there because a child got sick in the big pool. WHY HAVE RULES? The ports were wonderful and we enjoyed our time off the ship. One last peeve was the formal pictures. If you try to walk around on deck 5 during picture time it is impossible!! They have two picture stations side by side near the elevator that just blocks all traffic of people. Many, many shows were in the Centrum which is tiny and just a strange place to gather people. We all decided never again for this ship!
We stayed at the port and used the swimming pool and shopped.
