DH and I went on this ship without our college aged kids and with our best friends, all celebrating being empty nesters this year. We're all in our 40's and felt very much that we were the median age group this cruise.

Overall this ship was fantastic.

Embarkation in Ft. Lauderdale was smooth with a lovely champagne welcome aboard the ship. Rooms were not ready until 1pm, in which they made a ship wide announcement at 1pm, when you could go see your stateroom. We were all asked many, many times to upgrade our classic drink package to the premium drink package.

Cabin Review

Deluxe Ocean View with Verandah 1B

Cabin 1B

Room was very spacious, clean, plenty of storage. Bathroom was great as well. I did feel like the overall cabin was about a foot or so narrower than other cabins we've been in. But it was still very comfortable. See my overall review for more detail.

Port Reviews

Antigua

Antigua was great, as usual. One of our favorite beach islands. Took a taxi to the beach and as expected, the taxi picked us up at an agreed time and got us back to the port. Went to Pigeon Point Beach. Taxi cost us $37 each way for 4ppl ($8pp).

Barbados

Rented a car here. Super fun day. DH was brave enough to drive our group of 4, since driving is on the opposite side for us. Round-abouts are very interesting for this reason as well. If you do rent a car, I highly recommend, before hand, downloading an off-line map of the island and remember to pack a car charger so your phone doesn't die while using mentioned map. lol But the island is beautiful with many awesome beaches. But if you just want to go to a nice beach, just take a taxi, many nice ones near port. Less stressful.

St. Maarten

We were one of the first few ships to stop here again after the hurricane. The locals are doing an excellent job rebuilding with the time they've had. Yet it's still in shambles. We had an overnight here and rented a car for both days. Had fun going to Maho and Orient with other stops along the way. There was only one "cafe" on Orient which was literally a cargo container that the family cut out windows and doors into this container to make a makeshift bar and grill. We were happy to spend our money there to help. The beach at Orient was super covered in seaweed and junk. It probably was washed ashore in storm and it's not a huge priority to clear it right now. However the seaweed is being washed back into the ocean and making it less desirable as many patches of seaweed is still floating in the water. Hopefully over time it will be a priority to clean up the sand, which will in turn also clean up the water, eventually. But we still enjoyed a few very quiet beach days due to lack of people at this very long, expansive beach. Very different from when we visited a few years back. But it was still nice and we'd be happy to return in the future.
