Carnival Magic Feb 10-17 departing Port Canaveral (room 8392)

Within 20 minutes of being on the Carnival Magic my husband and I wished we could get off the ship and this persisted for most of the week despite the amazing staff that we had the pleasure of encountering. This was our first cruise and will unfortunately will likely be our last. I would also like to preface this by saying this is the first negative review I have ever written regarding a vacation of any sort as we are a relaxed, easy going family.

Within minutes of getting on the ship the overpowering smell of smoke was nauseating and seeped into our toddler’s clothes, despite never stepping food in the casino. I talked to staff regarding this within the first hour of getting on the ship. They ensured me it would get slightly better, which it did while at sea, but barely. Despite only passing through the casino (which the layout of the ship necessitates), smoke overpowered the entire midship of floors 3-5. Why the casino is open to the air off the main atrium to travel up and down all the floors is beyond me. Is the smell supposed to entice people to gamble more?
