We chose this cruise as a first time cruise for our kids. This was our 3rd (me) and 4th (wife) to cruise. The ship was phenomenal and had plenty for all 3 of our kids ages 11, 14, 15. Maybe we are getting pickier as we get older but we were disappointed on a couple levels. Our kids earned their own money to pay for unlimited soda pkgs. We had bragged about the soda machines positioned in a few areas throughout the ships that were similar to what you would see in a Wendy's restaurant. One machine with a ton of choices. Liberty did not have these soda machines. Our family does not drink and therefore my kids felt very uneasy going to the bar to get their cups refilled. And even then, you were limited to sprite, Dr pepper, and coke. My wife also paid for a soda pkg on anticipation of Gatorade and teas and didn't even use her pkg at all. Be sure to ask a rep on phone before purchasing your soda pkg if you think you're getting more than 3 choices.
Our second disappointment - their lack of gluten free options. I recently found out that I have a gluten intolerance. After looking on cruise critic and other google articles we knew ahead of time that I would need to eat primarily in the main dining room. Our first night experience in the dining room was 2 1/2 hours!! Our waiter ignored our table and there was at least 20 minutes between courses. Our 2nd night we went to a different waiter and continued to use him for the rest of the trip. Our dining experience was helped by switching; however, gluten free selections were minimal and we had to pre-order quickly for me because my food always took longer. My dessert was pretty much the same every night - creme brulee; and not by my choice. Even my one morning in the dining room took almost 1 1/2 hours and I only order and omlet. I started eating in Windjammer after that breakfast - just stuck to omlets, bacon, and sausage, and yogurts. I never went hungry. Just extremely limited on options. Kind of takes the joy out of great food experiences but I know that my gluten free diet is not their problem.
Overall, we had a great experience and looking forward to taking our kids on another cruise.
Cabin was spacious. We did adjoining balcony rooms. had twin beds and a pullout. Was perfect for the kids. Room attendant put pullout back into couch in mornings giving them space and pulled it out at night providing separate beds for all 3 kids. We loved this set up as it gave us space and two bathrooms, and two balconies. Just trusted our kids to be in room when we told them to.
Embarkation was very smooth!!! We were on ship by noon. But had to find simple entertainment; lunch and playing cards, until our room was ready by 1. But we missed majority of crowds.
