We were going to Italy with some friends for a couple of weeks. We thought that it would be fun to include a cruise midway in our vacation. This cruise left from Civitavecchia (Rome) and was quite reasonable. It included ports of Marseille, France, Barcelona, Spain, Palma de Mallorca, Spain, Palermo, Sicily, Italy & Savona, Italy. At every port, there were people boarding and departing, which wasn't a problem and actually worked out quite well as boarding went quite fast. Our boarding time started at 12:30. We are arrived at 1:30. There was no one in line ahead of us and we walked right on. This is the first time that we have not waited for an hour or two in lines! So the trip started very positive!
We had read that there is only a cold breakfast buffet unless you ate in the dining room, so that was not a surprise, but there buffet was large & certainly was very, very good. And we also ate in the dining room once and were very happy with it also.
The entertainment was fun and no problems with language.
I can't remember the cabin number, but we had a large window, 2 bathrooms, one with a tub/shower and sink; the other with a stool, shower and sink. We had a nice sized couch, very nice room, although we didn't spend much time in it with a 7 day cruise with 6 ports.
We took their shuttle bus to the city center and spent our time walking up to the basilica & attending Mass there. The basilica with it's red & white marble is worth the very long walk up.
We took the subway to La Sagrada Familia. We have been there 2 other times and wanted to see the progress on this amazing church. We also stopped at a tapas bar and had tapas and sangria.
We toured the castle and the cathedral, both very good. We rode in these vehicles that were like a motor cycle with 3 wheels with a bench seat in back, quite a bit of fun!
We took the excursion to Monaco and we were quite pleased with it.
There were 4 of us. We hired a taxi for 60 Euros to take us to the Bellver Castle & the Cathedral & several other places.
