My wife and I needed a decent holiday somewere were it is warm. A cruise seemed to be ideal since we had a good experience with a cruise in 2011. MSC cruises seemed a decent provider (boy were we wrong there).
We did not wanted to book COSTA due to the reviews saying that the language used on board was Italian. The same counts for at least the MSC Armonia, the whole entertainment crew (most of the time the contacts are between entertainment crew and guests) speaks 1st of all Italian, than Spanish, then Portugese, then German after al these laguages something that supposes to be English, but hardly recocnisable as such, comes to surface. The food in the restaurants was advocated to be made by a 2 star michelin chef, however the chef was not on board personally. The chef that was tasked to reproduce the 2 star chefs menu was far from par. example: beef carpachio consisting of a big portion Iceberg lettuce instead of rucola, boiled 1,5mm thick sandwich topping beef instead of untra thin sliced raw beef.
The excursions advocated different experiences than the reality gave the participants, for example: an off road experience that does not go off road, a luxury beach trip were participants are left behind on a cold beach that was closed for swimming due to bad wheather (trip did not got cancelled and the participants payed +-€92,- each for basicly nothing.
The room was rather small, was different setup than advertised, the bathroom had fungus in several corners, the toilet several times did not flush, when showering (with showerdoors closed) the whole bathroomfloor was wet.
A good thing about the room was that every corner was used to the max with cabinets etc.
on the ship nothing got organised for the people that did not book an excursion, not even an simple boardgame or something of that kind.
