The overall feeling we got throughout the cruise was that it was simply an opportunity for Celebrity to try to 'up-sell' us at every turn. I felt like I was walking around with an ATM sign above my head and crew members were instructed to withdraw as much as they could before I got off the ship. Going into this cruise I had a very favorable impression of Celebrity- based on past experience (from the late 90's) but I was sadly disappointed and had to change my opinion of the brand. Hard sales pitches in the shops, the art 'auction', the spa... even in the bars where the top line beverage package still didn't include many brands (to the point where individual beers were an upcharge of $1 to $10 per bottle). The champagne (and I use the term loosely- as no champagne was available in any package- merely ‘sparking wine’) and Prosecco choices were horrible- unless you purchased a decent bottle at $100 and up.
The weight room was located right above the massage rooms- and it sounded like bombs going off when the people would drop their free-weights. Hardly relaxing at over $200 for the massage. (I overheard other guests complain about this , as well) When you walked past the spa area- the attendants would chase after you (and even yell at your back) about the massage treatments- like some turkish bazaar.
Wife went to medical for nasty bug bites and she was surprised that the Dr treated her in the lobby area- in front of 6 other people. She asked if she could go into a private room and the doctor replied- "well, we are all women here."
The stateroom (aqua class) was nice and as described on-line. The stateroom attendant was very good.
Stayed at the Conrad Hilton the night before- excellent hotel
