This was our sixth cruise on Celebrity and second time on the Summit. After a very poor experience on the Solstice last year, and mediocre experiences on Reflection and Equinox prior to that this cruise was make or break for Celebrity with regard to us. The Summit crew came through with distinction. The service on the ship was good to exceptional in all areas. I hope the crew doesn’t lose its culture of excellence with the departure of Captain Kate.
This cruise affirmed for us that we prefer the M-Class ships over the S-Class. Our needs are simple as we generally enjoy a nice room, good service, good food and drink, and the chance at a decent spot at the pool. The M-Class ships provide all of the above. We didn’t go to any of the shows. There were very few children as is typical for longer Celebrity itineraries.
The food service in the MDR, Luminae, Q-Sine, and Tuscan Grill was outstanding. The sommelier we had when dining in the MDR was horrible, but the rest were outstanding.
Large cabin. Lots of storage and room to move around. The stateroom attendant and butler provided excellent service. Would prefer a large walk-in shower to the undersized tub, but it was just fine.
