It is a bit disappointing when the only thing you look for is the WashyWashy,HappyHappy, SmileySmiley Girl at the entrance of the Restaurant on deck 15.. She was very enthusiastic in her work, She got you to sanitize your hands and got you to smile too. That was rememberable. Norwegian proclaims Free Style cruising, but making an appointment to do anything seem to be a bit of a chore. I came to vacation not work. I understand the organization that is required to make this a successful cruise, but the micro management of the crew made this a dull cruise for a second time. The waitstaff in the dining rooms are rude and the service was slow. The food was better than Carnival, but the service was lacking any personality and nothing was comforting on this ship. Pros: clean rooms, decent tasting food, nice balconies with limited obstructions, nice decor. Cons: poor service, feel like you have to keep up a schedule in order to see any of the shows, unfriendly waitstaff, lack of activities.
Our cabin was located almost midship. The upgrade from the balcony to the Mini Suite was well worth the money based on the much larger shower alone. The room was well equipped with all the essentials. My wife’s only complaint is that the mattress is a bit hard. I am surprised the cruise industry does not do sub categories based on mattress firmness. It could be implemented slowly over time to offer Firm- Soft sub categories of mattress comfort. Our room Steward was excellent. Always had a clean room. The Norwegian Epic is a very clean Ship. The Mini Suite Balcony is a must have for plenty of room in the shower.
