We are back from our cruise on the Carnival Legend. This was our 8th Carnival cruise and third on a Spirit class ship. Many cutbacks by Carnival were evident this time around. It is obvious Carnival is trying to get by with a reduction in staff as there were areas of the ship unattended.Crew seemed uninterested except for visiting with each other, and there were those placed in areas that they were just unsuited to,or digruntled about. Exceptions were our steward Emilse, who was the best to date, however. Allen in the dining room was the absolute best.We tried anytime dining and asked for his team's section every night and were able to get there on most.We had to wait a couple of times, but the wait was not too long.
I don't think we've ever seen a Carnival crowd who vanished so early at night, but who could blame them with the lack of live entertainment onboard. The lobby area and bar was deserted most nights with no one playing thus no dancing or mingling. The lido entertainment on Ecstasy the previous month was much better where they had a reggae band playing twice a day and another live showband every afternoon, not the case on the Legend.Dear Carnival: what ever happened to the sailaway parties?? I could go on,but the point is evident.
The Legend was beautiful and, I think, our new favorite ship to date. We had a great cruise with our dear friends and loved the ports of call. Embarkation in Tampa was our easiest so far. Debarkation.... another story!
