This was our 4th cruise with Celebrity and our 2nd on the Equinox. We were disappointed how much Celebrity has changed in the last 2 years - Food quality and quantity has suffered, attention to detail is also down (dirty dishes on 3 occasions, burnt toast almost every morning in the Blu restaurant, etc). Reduction in staff on board was apparent on almost every level (I must admit that the staff on Celebrity is outstanding - when you can find them).

Ports - 1) Our stop at Puerto Maya was pretty much a waste of time - the “port” consists of a Disneyland-like group of shops surrounded by a wall topped by barbed wire. We did take the Chacchoben ruins excursion (the ruins were very interesting) but one can visit Mayan ruins from other ports.

2) Our snorkeling trip in Belize took us directly from the ship to the reef which would have been ok except it consisted of a snorkeling “tour” - basically 30 plus snorkelers following (or trying to follow) a fast swimming guide. At no time we were allowed to explore on our own and at the end of the tour the guide headed off toward the boat leaving several struggling and exhausted swimmers (myself included) on there own to try to get back as best they could. It’s an amazing reef but this definitely not the way to see it.

Cabin Review

AquaClass 1

Cabin A1

Typical aqua class cabin on starboard side.

Port Reviews

Cozumel

Crowded - basically full of tourist junk.

Roatan

Hired a car and driver and had a fun tour of the island.
