Took Jewel of the Seas on 7 night Southern Caribbean.
1. I have lactose and gluten intolerance. I understand it is very limited diet and difficult to meet my needs, so dinners had to be pre-order 24 hrs in advance. I was fine with that. Unfortunately, for entire week, as side dishes, I was served baked potatoes, steamed broccoli and carrots. In the end of the cruise I was very tired of baked potatoes, steamed broccoli and carrots. There are many gluten free and dairy free options on the market besides baked potato: wide selection of rice, quinoa, beans, gluten free pasta - just to name a few, and not to mentioned wide variety of vegetables besides broccoli and carrots.
2. We were lied to by our waiter: on day 3, they served a great GF raisin bread with dinner, so we tried to request that from that day forward. On day 5 we got a waiter who said that they don't have anymore that particular bread. The next morning another waiter brought us the same GF raisin bread!
On arrival (Day 1) in our stateroom, there were crumbs on the carpet from previous cruise. On Day 4 the same crumbs were still there and we had to specifically ask the housekeeping to vacuum the floor and remove crumbs. We asked very politely, yet stateroom attendant was offended when we asked.
Taxi driver convinced us that beach we wanted to go to is dirty and unsafe after the hurricane. As a result, we went with the crowds. Later, we discovered that we were lied to. So, I strongly recommend, if you want to take a trip to the beach, research the beaches online at first and read reviews. Taxi drivers will try to convince you that some of the beaches are ugly, dirty and unsafe, which is NOT TRUE. I have a suspicion that taxi drivers have some kind of kickbacks or business relationship with vendors on certain beaches - which result in overcrowded, extremely noisy and lacking privacy beach experiences.
Stingray and kayak adventure was awesome!
