We are from Ontario, Canada. Most people we told about the cruise out of Alabama thought we were crazy. But boy, are we glad we did this cruise. This is my mom and I's 7th cruise, my younger sister's 6th cruise and my dad's first ever cruise.
We drove down to Mobile and stayed at the Historic Downtown Quality Inn. We had 2 rooms (and we are glad that we did. The beds were a little on the small side, but we would have managed in one room for the night). We arrived around 10 pm.
We left our car at the hotel ($60 for parking it at the hotel and for the shuttle to the cruise terminal - which is literally around the corner. You could see the hotel from the ship.) We were on the 4th shuttle from the hotel to the cruise terminal. We had picked the arrival time of 1:00 to 1:30, but we arrived at the port shortly after 11 and was on-board by 11:45. Embarkation was really quick and easy. We found a place to sit on Lido and got some lunch. We stayed there until about 1:30, when the rooms opened up.
Cabin Review
Interior
We had 2 cabins. U180 and U184. Both rooms were great. There was enough space for everyone. My sister and I were in U180 and my mom and dad were in U184. We both had the same room steward and he was great.
Any problems that we did have (like light bulbs burning out) were taken care of quickly.
Port Reviews
Progreso
Not much to do here unless you have an excursion booked. There are a few shops at the port, but other than that, there isn't really anything there.
Cozumel
This was out 5th or 6th time in Cozumel. We didn't leave the shopping area at the port. We got our usual souvenirs like Vanilla and magnets and then headed back to the ship.
