  3. Carnival Fantasy
This was our yearly family cruise with a total of 12 adults and 2 kids. We chose carnival because of price and itinerary, none of us had been to Progreso before. My wife and I are platinum guests with Carnival and love the way they do things. Although the ship is older than the rest, it still has much life left in it. The crew and entertainment staff made up the difference. We felt welcomed from the moment we stepped on til the moment we left. We chose a porthole room this trip and were delighted to have done so. Plenty of room, light and a view of the ocean when wanted. Also the portholes can be closed if you like, that way the sun is not waking you up on the mornings you wish to sleep in. The rest of our group varied from interior to ocean view and all were happy. Dinning was good as usual, nothing really has changed with menus over last few years as far as selection goes, but we did have prime rib 2 nights. Guy's burgers are always a hit as well as the Burrito and taco bar. They were able to place all of us at one table, which is usually reserved for the Captain. We felt so important. Tina was our server and she worked extra hard to care for each of us. The entertainment onboard was great, lots of great talented singers and dancers. Some of the best we have seen, and I told Sam the Director they were! Only exception was the Country Tonite show they did, sorry but some of the accents and a little too nasal on the country songs just did not fit too well. Only recognized about 3 songs during the show, maybe they did their own? Cruise Director Mikey was the best yet, energetic, personal, fun and wide open all the time! He really made the cruise fun and you never knew what he was going to do next or what he would be wearing! Been to Cozumel before, enjoyed day at the beach at Club Cozumel Caribe and small tour, which we booked after getting off ship. Yucatan was nice as well, booked city tour through Auto Progreso. They are located right out side of terminal to your left as you go to board buses that take you into city. $9 for 45 minute tour with knowledgeable guide and great driver. Plus you can shop when you return right there at bus terminal. People were very friendly, waving at us and smiling. Even the school kids stopped at stood up and waved out the windows. Hope to return here again and explore some more.

Still Impressed

  • Beach
We spent about 4 hours at beach, which included pool area, bathrooms, snorkeling, chairs and umbrellas fro $30 each. They also have restaurant which serves delicious calamari and chips with salsa for a good price. A coke here will cost you $3.50 which i though was a litle high. But a beautiful place to realx and unwind, we did not want to leave. The beach was Club Cozumel Caribe.

Booked with taxi service outside of port. Victor was our driver, he stayed with us entire time. Not a lot of info given, only shown what was on the way to the beach area.

Easy access to port, we booked with Microtel in Saraland Alabama, they provide shuttle service to and from port. Amanda was manager there and entire staff were friendly and helpful with all of our needs. Great service from them. Would highly recommend them.

Vincent was our guide and Hosea was the driver. We booked as you leave the port terminal where you go out to meet the buses. Port pier is over 4 miles long, so you have a little ride in and then you are place in opencoach style bus for tour. We all enjoyed and found it very entertaining for only $9! Thay also offered all inclusive beach and tour for $35
