Celebrity used to provide an elegant and luxurious experience, but that is no longer the case. I just returned from the Reflection, on the so called "Reunion Cruise". While no one knew what to expect on this so called Reunion Cruise, it was just like any other generic Celebrity experience.
First, let me say that the quantity of the food remains more than ample, the quality of the dining experience has slowly deteriorated. With the introduction of Specialty Dining Restaurants, as well as Blu and Luminae, the attention to quality dining in the main dining room has diminished. At times the noise level in the dining room was so overwhelming, it was difficult to carry on a conversation. The wait staff appeared to be overworked and could not keep up with the demands of the diners. It was difficult to have a quiet and relaxing dinner when the waiters and their assistants were stressed out.
Years ago Celebrity had string trios and harpists providing classical music throughout the ship. The trios have been reduced to duos, but the quality of the musicians has fallen to new lows. (My comments do not apply to the show band.) The cellist sawed her cello more than played it, and the pianist, who also played the harmonica, banged on the keys like he was taking out his frustrations on the keyboard. And did I mention that the vocalists should have been embarrassed to perform in public? I have seen high school talent shows with more talented artists. Perhaps the executives at Celebrity should spend a few days at sea and see for themselves the "talent" for themselves.
