Didn't Live Up to the Hype

  • Sail Date: Sep 2017
  • Destination: the Southern Caribbean
  • Cabin Type: Sky Suite 1

Understanding that reviews are subjective, this is our's - take it for what its worth. We were in HC suite 2130. My wife is in a power wheelchair and cannot walk or stand.

Ship: The ship was clean and extremely well maintained. The lawn area was very cool and added something that you just don't see on other ships.

Cabin: The one GLARING shortcoming of the HC suite was that anyone in a wheelchair cannot reach the sink!! It has one of those new bowl type sinks that sits on top of the counter. If you can stand its fine. If you're in a wheelchair be prepared to find new ways to wash your hands and brush your teeth! Aside from that, the cabin was roomy, the balcony very large and there was sufficient storage. There was some noise from the restaurant over it but it was not too bad.

Dining: Out of ten dinners only two were memorable. We ate in Luminae, Blu, and Tuscan Grill. Never made it to the MDR. The food was average at best. Nice place settings and décor but the food was only average. Once in Luminae we had to send back a swordfish entre - it was terrible.

Entertainment: Did not go to any shows. The lounge acts were OK but there were a few that were just terrible. BUT there was once jazz pianist in Michael's Club that was Outstanding.

Service: Our butler Anand was EXCELLENT!! Always there when you needed him. This was our first time with a butler. He was great. Bar servers were fine but drinks were outrageously expensive. We don't drink enough to justify a package but be prepared to pay through the nose - even for beer!

We have taken over 35 cruises - this was our first on Celebrity. We did a lot of homework. In our humble opinion it just didn't live up to the luxury hype.
