This was our first cruise on Silversea and we were extremely impressed. Our cruising background is limited, only three recent Celebrity cruises and one Norwegian back in 1989. I was a bit worried about prior negative reviews and cannot understand some of the negative commentary.
We found the strongest aspect of this cruise to be the food/beverage. In short, everything we were served was wonderful. Once you give yourself in to the multi-course slower pace of dining it makes perfect sense. Highlights were La Terazza and Shen Shen but we loved all the restaurants, including the main dining room.
The biggest difference between Silversea and Celebrity, aside from the better food, would be the lack of crowds. There was never a line anywhere on the ship and pool butlers were always available to set up a chair either by the pool or on the deck area. A huge plus.
Suite 604 is a good location but be forewarned, you can hear the anchors dropping and other mechanicals being adjusted as the ship docks each morning. This was not a problem for us because we were always up early. If you plan to sleep in, choose a center ship location, aft or further up.
