Just returned from Copenhagen after cruising the Norwegian Getaway 9-day Baltic Sea cruise. This was only our second cruise; our first was on Disney many years ago and our family of 4 (2 young adult kids) agrees that it was overall fantastic! The only critique we had about the ship was the Ocean buffet being so crowded that it was hard to find a table during peak times. The staff is the best, with very very few exceptions they were friendly, cheerful and always willing to help! We didn't dine in any of the specialty restaurants but the included restaurants were great! I cannot imagine how anyone could have a complaint about the food. The drinks and service at the bars were awesome, our favorite was Sugarcane mojito bar especially when the Australian guy was playing the piano (I forgot his name, must be all the mojitos I consumed there!). What an awesome entertainer! The itinerary is fantastic and I only wish we could have had more time in Stockholm as we had to be back onboard by 3:30 after docking at 9:30. It was close to 10:15 by the time we got off the ship (long lines) and we nixed our plan to take the HOHO bus when we saw the lines and just took a cab straight to Vasa. Good thing we did, because by the time we finished Vasa around 11:45, all the buses were there and the line was very long. We watched Million Dollar Quartet, Burn the Floor and Cirque Dreams and they were all excellent. The Cirque she is like something you would watch in Vegas for $200 each, so it was worth the $30 pp extra! We had the absolute best weather the whole time, shorts and T shirt weather even in St. P! We used Alla Tours in St. P (highly recommend) and did the rest on our own. We used HOHO in Helsinki but in retrospect it was a waste of money since the buses only came every 30 minutes and it was faster to walk than wait, then took a cab from downtown to the ship. Thank you NCL for a great vacation! Overall we had an unforgettable trip that was worth every penny and we can't wait to go on another cruise in the near future!

Cabin Review

Family Balcony Stateroom

Cabin B2

Our first reaction was OMG its so small! But we made it work for the four of us because the bathroom was not as cramped as I had thought and there was ample space for our things. Also, the cabin was kept immaculately clean by Ansari, our steward. It was nice to have a balcony especially while sailing the Stockholm archipelago. Besides, the cruise is so port-intensive that we were barely in the room!

Port Reviews

Copenhagen

Took cab from airport straight to port. It was $72!!!! Stayed for a few days post-cruise and enjoyed this beautiful city. We had a lovely time, but its reputation for being an expensive city is true!

Rostock (Warnemunde)

Warnemunde was very charming, we took the train to Rostock then to Schwerin Castle. Each city was easy to find and navigate on foot.

Tallinn

Beautiful Old Town!

Helsinki

Not too impressed with the city, especially after having just been to St. P the day before! Other than Church on the Rock, other sites we saw were just ok.

Stockholm

Would like to come back with more time to explore the other museums. Vasa museum a must-see. The changing of the guards at the Royal Palace is awesome, even better than in Buckingham Palace, with bonus (and completely unexpected) concert at the end!
