What a relaxing and enjoyable week we had on the Celebrity Solstice from Seattle to Alaska! Embarkation was the quickest and most hassle-free of any cruise we've ever had. There was a special lunch offered to Concierge class guests in the main dining room and we went right to it. Our cabin was ready shortly thereafter and our bags arrived in a timely manner.

The ship is beautiful and nicely laid out. The grass lawn on the upper deck is an unusual feature and was a pleasant place to sit while still in port in Seattle. Fortunately the weather was outstanding in Seattle--clear and sunny! The waters were calm for the entire cruise with the exception of one evening on the way back when we were in open waters and not in the inside passage. But, the rocking didn't bother us nor did it last very long. Some folks used the outdoor pool while docked in Seattle but not so much the rest of the cruise until we were back in sunny weather in Victoria, BC. We used the indoor pool & jacuzzi one day and it was very nice. There's a Hot Glass Show that's unique to cruise ships and there were several other activities offered that we enjoyed including trivia and an archery challenge.

The food in the main dining room and the Oceanview Cafe (main buffet) was always delicious and we liked everything we tried. We had one meal in a specialty restaurant, the Tuscany Grill, and it was great. I had a wonderful filet mignon and my husband ordered a ribeye steak. When he discovered the ribeye was not to his liking, the waiter & the chef himself remedied the situation and prepared a filet mignon for him which he loved. We had the premium beverage package and the drinks were great at every venue.

Cabin Review

Concierge Class 1

Cabin C1

The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was spacious. Water pressure and temperature in the shower was easily adjusted and always pleasant. There was enough storage space for all our things. Our cabin steward always kept things in order and very clean. The balcony was so nice with comfortable chairs and footstools & a small table.

The room was a bit of a far walk from the elevator but it was manageable.

Port Reviews

Ketchikan

There's a free city shuttle bus that will take you all around the small town. There's a Starbucks with free wi-fi inside the Safeway store on the shuttle route. The boardwalk area with shops is a pleasant place to walk around.

Victoria

Victoria is a beautiful city and the port is in an area of fine homes and high rise apartments that is pleasant to walk through. There's a little fishermen's village within a few blocks or one can take readily available buses and taxis to get into the heart of the city.
