We had an Alaskan Cruise on our bucket list to check off so we decided to do it when cruise season opened up to Alaska from Vancouver, BC. We called a cruise travel agent who was very knowledgeable as he had done the cruise twice. He did all the recommendations and we inquired about tours and settled in on the whale watching tour in Juneau and the train tour in Skagway... AWESOME!!! The staff were extremely friendly and they remembered our names as well as other tourists. The food at the Lido Buffet was to die for. They changed it up every day and it was so good, never had a buffet that pleased us so much. The gala night in the Manhattan Dining Room was the best food ever. They had two gala nights and again, service was exquisite and the food was second to none. The Lido pool was great, they would retract the roof when it was warm and sunny. Oddly enough, in our whole 7 day trip, we only had one bad morning of heavy misty rain in Ketchikan but it became sunny in the afternoon. Otherwise, the whole cruise was sunny and rather warm. Even the workers on the cruise ship stated this was not normal, but we're not complaining. LOL ... We had a balcony/veranda suite so we enjoyed sitting outside with our champagne and wine and just watching the beautiful scenery. Amazing is all I can say. The trip through Glacier Bay was something to die for. The cruise ship stopped so that we could see falling ice chunks from the glaciers falling in the sea... every time it happened, all passengers oohed and ahhhhed like us. We'd do this trip again in a heartbeat. The STAFF were phenomenal...extremely friendly, we can't say enough about them!

Cabin Review

Deluxe Ocean-View Verandah Stateroom

Cabin VE

I'm not sure of the cabin category other than we were on the 8th floor with a verandah/balcony suite which was great. The rooms were nice and clean, Cute and creative towel animals everyday. We took pictures of all of them. About the only thing that was a concern was that water seemed to pool on the verandah in little puddles on a daily basis. Had to make sure to not step in it, but we enjoyed our champagne and/or wine while sitting outside and viewing the beautiful scenery. The room was perfectly situated. Elevators right outside our door, steps as well to 9th floor, Lido Buffet to the left, Sea View pool and bar to the right. We want this room again if we ever cruise to Alaska again. LOL

Glacier Bay

Having the cruise ship stop at the heart of a glacier so that we could watch falling chunks of ice into the see was awesome. You had to have your camera ready with your finger on the trigger switch as the ice chunks that fell were unpredictable but it was beautiful. When the chunks hit the sea, everyone rooted and were awed by mother nature.

Ketchikan

Ketchikan was the only stop that we had heavy mist/rain in during the morning. The whole of the trip was sunny which even the cruise ship workers said was unusual, however they did say that it always rains in Ketchikan. We debarked in the morning to walk the shops and look around the city, again in heavy misty rain. We bought some items in this rustic town and then headed back to the ship. By early afternoon, the rain had let up and the sun was shining again. LOL ... we should have gone in the afternoon, however, great experience.
