The Alaska cruise was at the end of our organised tour of Canada.
Our tour guide was very upbeat about the Nieuw Amsterdam as it is a much newer vessel than she said was usually found on the Alaska run-old rattlers she called them, so we were lucky.
And it was a very good ship in that respect, well maintained , quiet and smooth.
Good bed, not enough drawers, roomy enough, good bathroom, poor table and chairs, too much ship clutter on desk, very dull decor, looked cheap.
Stayed on board as Juneau didn't interest us.
Ruined by new cruise ship berths, plus it was raining. Tried to get to Creek street but gave up.
Much less floating ice than we saw in 1999, and hardly seemed worth seeing.
