Had circled this cruise as a possibility when I rcvd the Princess Cruise atlas. Inquired and told all verandas were sold out and thought price was high. Then in a last minute special e-mail I get from Princess price was lowered and then 1 week later lowered again. Bked at a good price a partially obstructed cabin on E deck. Knew the Crown in need of work and since was round trip South Hampton would have lots of Brits on board. Out of +3,000 on board about 2,000 were Brits. Thats why I chuckle on comments about American service etc etc. All the nonproduction shows were British slanted, including both comedians(both awful) and tribute show to Robbie Wms.
Cabin same size and lay out of veranda cabin without veranda - bed was not over the window as some outside cabins. Steward was good. I always tell them I want cabin serviced early, ice early evening etc. Give a small tip first day of cruise. Left a note if something was needed and he always responded. A few towels were tattered. We are Elite so bar set up was appreciated( if u do not like one of their choices ask to" trade"for your preference) Laundry ws a treat but took 3 days. Wound up washing denimsand other dark items at the $6 launderette. At one time it was free and then $2, at leastcan use cruise card and not sourge around for change.
Food was good, a few were very good. We are NOT buffet persons. Ate 1 bkfst and 1 lunch in Horizon court. Both times barely acceptable. Tried pizza once - terrible!! saucetasted liked our canned tomato sauce - no spices,no garlic. It was served hot. Used roomservice for brkfts when we had early tour - chili one day for lunch - tea and cake 1 aft.
Everything came as ordered, presented well and on time. We are Elite and had canapes on formal nights - same thing 3 times and nothing special. Liked Vines and International cafe. Did Tea once, nicely presented, nice variety of food.
Have done anytime dining for yrs with Princess. Would go to DaVinci around 7:30 and have no wait for shared table. We ask for table for 6 - met nice passengers that way.
Ate at sABATINI'S 2x and Crown Grill 1x. We celebrated husband's birthday and ouranniversary there - children sent on board credit to cover the charge.
Wine is way overpriced, that's not new. We did pack 2 special bottles for our celebrations.
Thought there should be more entertainment in the piazza - on Mexican cruises therewere jugglars, acrobats etc in the afternoon and evening. Such a beautiful space!
Daily activities were lacking - why no destination lectureer on exploring the North Pole,or Vikings?
Did not book any shore excursions with Princess - way over priced. Used NSB sight(only take PayPal for payment from USA) to book Flam RR since Flam sightwas sold out. Toured in each port independently - took private tours North Cape andSkjolden. Both ports were highlights.. Ice bar at Honning Svag was a hoot.
Used Princess air for the guarantee but insisted on non stop flights I wanted not theconnections they tried to sell. Embarkation was best ever - took later time and justwalked off ship with no lining up et.
book Flam RR since Flam sight was sold out.
