We picked this cruise based on the ports visited. This was our first cruise on Royal Caribbean. Previously we have been on Celebrity 4 times. This was an older ship that has been recently refurnished. Our panoramic ocean view state room on the 8th deck was added during the refurbishment . the full size wall to wall, ceiling to floor window was a godsend. We could just sit by the window and watched the view without having to fight for a deck chair in the covered solarium, as it was quite cold and windy during the entire cruise. Even a balcony room was useless as it was too cold to sit outside for a few minutes. May be in the caribbean , but not the Baltics. Overall the ship was nicely refurnished, and in great condition. The size of the ship was perfect ,not too big and not overcrowded as some of the mega ships. We also like the fact that the ship can dock close to the city in most of the ports, without having a long walk. As we were told by a family from the newer and bigger Regal Princess could not leave a port for 2 days because of its deeper draft and had to miss a port in Tallin. Newer is not necessary better. We did not use any of the specialty restaurants , and we enjoyed the food in the main dining. but the food in the Windjammer buffet was OK . The most notable difference on this ship was the crew, Everyone was friendly and eager to serve you. It has the best captain, the best cruise director and the best waiter Abel in main dining room. On a cruise, it's the personnel that made the difference.

Cabin Review

Cabin panoramic ocean view

wall to wall, ceiling to floor panoramic window, this was added during the refurbishment in 2016. It was spacious and conveniently located midship by the centrum .Ocassionally, we did hear running or walking noises from the top deck, but mostly during the day. We were quite happy with the room, without fighting for deck chairs in the covered solarium and still got to enjoy the full size view in private.

Port Reviews

Amsterdam

We stayed on a houseboat on a canal for three days. absolutely love it. it was easy to go around the city center by using trams. Great city to spend a few days before the cruise.

Helsinki

We used the ship's shuttle bus to go into the city, as it was a little limited on time to walk around. Helsinki is not an old city, not a lot of historic sites.

Tallinn

Beautiful old town easy walking distance from the dock. Surprising nice visit by following Rick Steves guide book

Stockholm

A tendered port, ship dock right in the middle of the city port. We used hop-on-hop of-boat to move around different sights. Vasa museum a must see. Palace guard changing was also nice.

Aarhus

Not many cruise ships visit this port, even for our ships captain also the first time. Easy walk into the town center. We went to Den Campbell By, a recreated old town with some preserved old buildings. Nice stroll. Right behind it is a small free indoor botanical garden worth a short visit.

Copenhagen

First off the ship, then walked to little mermaid. Nobody showed up until 10 minutes later, the tour buses and crowds arrived. Then, we took the ferry into the city center and started tour back towards the ship following Rick Steve's guide book. A nice walking street back passing old churches , museums and canals.
