We chose this cruise because we had friends that needed a getaway. It was a close drive and the only ship available on such short notice. At the last minute they had to back out. So we enjoyed the trip anyway. It was our first cruise with Royal Caribbean and we were impressed by the things on-board to experience and the layout of the Promenade. Guest Services was not open 24 hours a day as we had experienced with other cruise lines. The food in the main dining room was rated as excellent. There was a huge variety and the wait staff ensured we had many choices, sometimes bringing us options that we had not ordered, just to try. The stateroom attendant was extremely pleasant and honored our individual requests with pleasure. The one thing I was disappointed in was the nightly entertainment and lack of variety in the entertainment. We are accustomed to nightly entertainment and sometimes 2 per night. There were 3 nights of comedians and 2 nights where there was no entertainment in the theater at all. The cruise director and activities directors were very upbeat and positive. You could definitely tell they were enjoying what they were doing and encouraging the guests to have a great time. I highly recommend the Gumbalina Preservation Park excursion in Roatan, Honduras, where you will interact with monkeys and McCaws, and the Chacchoben Mayan Ruins in Costa Maya. This excursion is approximately a 55 minute drive from the pier, a 2 hour walking and photographing tour of the ruins and then a 55 minute drive return to the ship. We will recommend this ship to our friends and encourage them to cruise Royal Caribbean.

Cabin Review

Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom with Balcony

Cabin E1

Cabin was nice. It had a couch for relaxing. Adequate lighting with a reading light attached to the underneath side of the bedside light. I had read reviews about the small size of the shower, but the reviewer had definitely not cruised before. The shower had sliding doors that sealed instead of a curtain which did not allow for leakage on the bathroom floor. The one thing missing was an electrical outlet in the bathroom for things such as razors, curling iron, etc. but these were provided in the main part of the cabin at a lighted mirror over the desk area.

Port Reviews

Galveston

The parking at the port of Galveston is close and convenient. If you pay in advance you receive a discount at the 25th Street Parking Garage. It was just a 1 - 1 1/2 block walk to the check-in and the ships.

Cozumel

For $8 USD you can take a taxi to/from town, a nearly 2 mile ride. Once in town, there are shops everywhere with every possible ware imaginable. Of course there are shops on the pier if you do not want to venture into town. Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville and Senor Frogs are located on the pier for your enjoyment.
