We were going to Europe for the first time. NCL was not my first choice, but this itinerary was. It met all my needs for seeing different places. We wanted to see Rome. So we decided to go to Rome a few days early. Yes, getting on the Epic in Barcelona is cheaper. If you get on in Barcelona, you only have about a half a day in Rome. The port for Rome is actual an hour away by bus or car. We heard several people complaining the day we got on about how they didn't even get to see everything promised in their tours. They only let 1,000 people get on in Rome. When we got on, we were placed in the last group to get tendered in Cannes, because those who got on in Barcelona had first choice. Also, an excursion to the Majorca Pearl Factory which only offered on the ship was sold out by the time we got on. There were some other small events you signed up for on the ship only that were also fully booked when we got on.

I found going to Majorca a waste of time. I wished we had stayed on the ship. Just to get to the main street was a 20-25 minute walk. The ship does not provide any information on how to get around in different ports if you are not using their tours. I wish I had know this in advance.

I know several people complain about the configuration of the rooms. It truly was not a problem for our inside room. They only problem we had was trying to remember to post the sign stating we wanted our room clean. So we missed having our room cleaned twice.
