There was no middle ground, things we're really good or really bad-bordering on deplorable.

The really bad was the customer service. We had a reservation to board the ship in Quebec City at 10am. However they didn't even open the doors until after 11:30 which resulted in a huge lineup of people including seniors with nowhere to go or sit. Nobody from Norwegian even came out to explain delays or help out. Once check-in did start, it was clear the staff was hopelessly undertrained as it took almost 45 minutes from the time we met with a check-in (?) person to get checked in and receive our keys. The staff of all people being served were constantly having to go to supervisors for help. Once we got on board and to our room, our keys didn't work and we had to wait in a 15 minute line at customer service to get new keys. Finally; at 1:30 we were in our room after wasting 3.5 hours. We quickly dropped off our things so we could get off the ship and start exploring. However, our safe didn't work and so we had nowhere to put our valuables such as extra cash and passports. To their credit, we called and the issue was resolved within 20 minutes. Not to their credit though, the safe stopped working again a few days later and after waiting for an hour for help- we gave up and went to Port with our valuables. We never could get anybody to fix the safe and ended up carrying our valuables for the rest of the cruise.

The really good was the staff at most of the specialty restaurants. I can't recall the name of the restaurants but the Brazilian BBQ and the Mexican were exceptional. It just looked like the staff were having fun, and the enthusiasm was infectious. *Try the banana tart for dessert at the Brazilian BBQ and the corn at the Mexican. Best cruise ship meals ever.

Typical room. The showers on Norwegian ships seem to be roomier than other cruise lines. I liked the location of our room which was 2 floors from the buffet line and near the stairs. We didn't have to bother with elevators in the morning.
