Having used different cruise lines I wanted this to be a special experience. I was taking 4 grand children (10, 11, 12, 14) Reading on all that the ship had to offer for this age group I choose Liberty of the sea (first time Royal Caribbean). The disappointment came when at odd times the water park was closed and the pools that were available were over crowded. The ship has a sports court but many activities were age limited excluding most younger kids as well as teens. . The ice skating rink was only available at brief periods and on the last day of the cruise closed at 2:00 pm. Not wanting to pack wet clothing for the return tirp the water activities were not an option. No other activities were available for the kids. Entertainment in the evening was brief but of high quality. Great shows. The cabins lacked comfortable seating. A straight back couch in both cabins no other chairs did not invite fheor seating at any length of time. My husband enjoys reading and watching TV and could not be comfortable sitting. The dining was limited to 2 major venues, The food in the main dining room was bland and lacked in presentation. Having ordered roast duck I was served with a drumstick that was tough and difficult to cut. The steaks were tough and flavorless. So we chose the Windjammer cafe for the next few days. The food at the Windjammer was excellent and offered a great variety. The kids survived on Pizza (free) other food choices came attached with a prize tag. Shopping on ship was limited and expensive.
Beds are very uncomfortable. Mattress felt like cardboard. Air quality poor. Woke up with headache every morning. No adequate seating.
