  3. Norwegian Jewel
Reading the blogs in regards to the Norwegian Jewel were spot on. Ranking: 1) Entertainment (the entertainment staff really does a great job on the Jewel) 2) Activities (there is something to do every hour of every day on the Jewel. You will never get bored.) 3) Room (Penthouse room at the front of the boat had a huge deck with amazing views) 4) Service (everyone was very friendly and helpful. We had a Butler, Rex and a private Concierge, Bruno. Both were very helpful and attentive.) 5) Food (This was the biggest disappointment. The food was beyond horrible. We were looking forward to our ports of call just to get decent food. The Teppanyaki specialty restaurant had the best food.) NCL has a nice relaxed dress code. Which comes in handy when you are out on shore excursions all day and want to go to dinner when you get on the boat without having to change. Definitely check out the spa, its well worth it. Check out Lauron Randon in Magnums Champagne Bar. Great 70's singer. .

Somewhat disappointed as a first time cruiser.......

Cabin Review

Penthouse with Large Balcony
Cabin SE 9500
Cabin 9500 was a standard size hotel room with a bigger bathroom. Cabin was at the front of the boat. The best feature of this room is the large deck. We had the best views of the glaciers, wildlife, sunsets/sunrises, etc.
Deck 10 Inside Cabins, Balcony Cabins, Suite Cabins

  • Horseback Riding
The picture in the brochure, unfortunately, does not match what you do, entirely. In brochure, you see this amazing valley with river, beautiful snow covered mountains, etc. This scenery happens for only about 10 minutes because the rest of the time you are in a very dense forest where you can't see anything.

We heard from many cruisers that the scenic train was amazing.

  • Butchart Gardens
Butchard Gardens is a must. Its so hard to explain how incredibly beautiful this place is......definitely well worth the trip.

Bloggers said rent a car at Avis in Downtown Victoria and drive. We did this and it worked out great. We docked at 230pm. Took cab to Avis downtown Victoria for 10.00CAD (they take USD). Rented car for 30.00CAD. Was at Butchard Gardens by 330pm until 515pm. Was able to get back and turn rental car back in by 6pm and was able to have a nice sushi dinner in Victoria and back on boat by 830pm. Renting car is much cheaper than shore excursion (99.00USD per person) or even renting a taxi to Butchard Gardens which is 60.00CAD each way.
