We did a river cruise in 2010 and loved it. We have always planned to take another Viking cruise, however, life came in the way of children's college graduations, trips to India to visit family, and lastly a child's wedding.

We love the level of service offered by Viking and its employees. Both of us are veterans of the hospitality industry, we are hotel school graduates, we have worked for luxury hotel chains across the globe, we have taught hospitality in colleges, and we know god, well trained staff when we see the end result. We have not traveled with our adult children with Viking as yet, but we plan to.

The Viking Star was a very pleasant experience right from the ease of booking, the value for money, arrival at the airport and the transfer to the ship could have been a little more quick, however the staff was always smiling and happy to see all of us at the San Juan airport. The embarkation was very smooth and quick. The Cabin was very well appointed, and Comfortable. Our floor steward, Mohammad, was a pleasant surprise of our cruise, always smiling, ever ready and happy to serve.

We had meals at all the restaurants and each meal was well planned and presented. A couple of suggestions; why on a cruise are long pants required for males in specialty restaurants? Thank the Lord we flew in from the colder region, I had one pair of long jeans! The bread baskets served in full service restaurants were at room temperatures or cold; to me that is unacceptable. Bread needs to be warm. I have no issues with breads being cold on a buffet type service, but table service? The butter when applied to the bread should melt a bit.

The Thermal Suite was an exhilarating experience after long hot days ashore. Thank you to the staff for educating on the correct use of the ice grotto, steam room, cold water bucket dunk, sauna, and the Jacuzzi. The walking/ running trail on board, the games worked well for us and are well designed.

We did feel that one day at each port was too short to fully explore and experience the local fare. The Shore Excursions need a little more of TLC for planning and execution.

All in all, we love Viking. Keep up the good work, and we will be onboard in the near future, we love the more exotic places like China, Egypt, African Safari type of tourism. And we are waiting for Viking to start the Nile cruise again soon!

Cabin Review

Cabin Have no idea 6063

Great shower!!!

The room had very good lighting for easy reading, and the seating was adequate for two. I would really recommend a good night chocolate on the pillow at the night turndown service.

A little too long a drive on very narrow roads. Great driver with good knowledge of the island's history and culture.
