Sail Date: Dec 2016

This was our second cruise on the Viking Star. Last Christmas (2015) we cruised from Barcelona to Rome on the Viking Star. We were so pleased with that trip that we booked the 2016 Christmas cruise to the West Indies, our first trip to the Caribbean. We were not disappointed. The ship capacity is 930 and we received great, personal service. I will never sail on a mega-ship. The restaurant food and entertainment was excellent.

There were several dining choices. We had one dinner in the reservation-only Italian restaurant that was very tasty. Other dinners were in the Restaurant at which we could choose to eat by ourselves or choose to join a large table at which we met many interesting people. At breakfast and lunch we ate at the Cafe (cafeteria style) and had many choices that changed every day. I will never forget the homemade sticky buns and donuts for breakfast. Lunch had both hot and cold choices. There were several other food options available around the ship. A group of about six talented young people provided nightly shows; one had a Beatles theme, another based on ABBA songs. Though I didn't use them, there was a spa, infinity pool, and exercise equipment. I did use the main pool and hot tub.

This ship caters to an older group although because it was Christmas, there were some families. There is no gambling or activities catering to children. We will stick with Viking for our cruises in the future.

Cabin Review

Cabin V2

All cabins have a balcony and the room was well organized. We loved the bathroom. Shower was great and plenty of space.
