Chose this as a "wonder what it is like now" cruise because the Bahamas was our first ever cruise many years ago - i.e.40. Chose Carnival because it went to both Freeport and Nassau and was relatively inexpensive. This was first cruise with Carnival so had no real idea what it would be like, only knew Carnival's reputation as a party cruise line. In general it was an "OK" cruise.
Embarkation went smoothly and the same with disembarkation. Had an aft cabin which had a larger balcony but room was quite small with no sofa and only a makeup type stool to sit on. So any attempt to sit in room was either the bed or the stool. Met our cabin steward -Jean from Haiti- very nice but first question was "how often did we want the room made up - i.e. a.m., p.m, or both ?? Never had that before, don't think there was a corresponding decrease in the daily service charge for once per day service just less for him to do.
Food on the Liberty was mediocre at best. Dinning room food lacked much flavor very little imagination in offerings. Lido buffet was quite limited in comparison to other cruise lines - Princess, RCCL, Celebrity- and desserts were really poor in both areas. The Guy's burgers tasted good at the time but generated a health helping heartburn for both myself and my wife within a short time afterward.
Cabin very small, no chair/sofa to sit on. Only makeup stool or bed to sit on.
