Like uncrowded, mid-sized, cruise ships that visually, look like classic 'Ocean Liners'...not amusement parks. Don't wish to spend my vacation lining up with 4000 other passengers for dinner or shows....on some of the huge cruise ships being launched now-a-days. Enjoy more sophisticated crowd on Holland America...less 'Booze Cruise'...with cultured Guest Speakers and Seminars. Prefer the gracious Indonesian and Filipino dining and room stewards, versus multi-cultural cruise staff, who don't speak each other's languages (worry about this safety factor, in the unlikely event that an emergency occurs...but as we all know....does happen on occasion). Good service with fine food (although would be nice if some nights lobster, crab, etc. were served in main dining salon and didn't cost extra)....but then again, not at this price point...very good value for money. Special mention is the Dive Bar where absolutely the best ever burgers and french fries are served. Enjoyed daily....along with a Split of Henkell Troken sparkling wine. And the French Onion Soup was delicious...think I had most days. Really enjoyed 10 day cruise to Hawaii in Signature Suite (larger room with full sized couch and two chairs, full bathroom with tub, plus large balcony). Can't wait to book again with Holland America....maybe we'll save our pennies and book the even larger Neptune Suite next time! Shore excursions in Vancouver, San Diego and Hawaii were great, but would skip Astoria....even though, historically speaking, just down the road, is where Lewis and Clark finally made it to the Pacific Ocean.

Was particularly nice at night, especially on two mornings when woke up early at 5:30 am, not to miss watching the sun rise while cruising into San Diego and Honolulu.
