We picked Disney Cruise mainly because of the focus on younger kids. Based on all the reviews I've read this is supposed to be the best cruise for kids (with no casino and has many kids focused activities such as the Oceaneer Club and Lab.) This is our first cruise ever so I cannot compare it with other cruises. My original expectation was that the kids would spend most of the time in the youth clubs doing interesting activates while the adults can relax and do some exercises to work off the calories. I also expected to go swimming as a family at least once per day so we could . However, the experience was not exactly what I expected.

We were on the Very Merrytime Cruise during the week of Thanksgiving. As expected it is extremely crowded. It took quite a while for the lug gages to show up, otherwise the embarkation and disembarkation went just fine.

The ship is in a great condition and the room is exceptionally clean. I travel a lot for work and the cleanliness is definitely on par with the best hotels I've stayed. Also the stateroom host did above and beyond to entertain my kids. The room and his service were the best part of the trip . The 3 stage shows were good but definitely not on par with those at Disneyland and Disney World, none of them was memorable and the plots were all very uninteresting or simplistic despite good individual performance. The kids (6 and 9) also enjoyed the new movie "Moana".

Port Reviews

Port Canaveral (Orlando)

It was clean and easy to get around.

Nassau

Did not get off the ship. So no comment. We were told the crime rate is increasing and should be on alert for our own safety.

Castaway Cay

This is the best part of the trip. But still a bit below expectation.
