This was a little get away for my wife and myself. And our first Thanksgiving without children (our youngest is now 19 and too cool for us). We have been on four previous Disney cruises, and this was our second on the Dream. We flew in to Orlando the day before the Cruise and stayed at the Hyatt. We caught a cab to Downtown Disney to hang out for the afternoon and have dinner. The morning of the cruise, the Hyatt picked up our bags and sent them to the ship. We had a leisurely breakfast then made our way down to catch the Magic Express to the ship. We arrived a Port Canaveral around noon and there were quite a few people in the terminal. Lines were so fast, we had trouble keeping up, but in less then 10 minutes we were checked in and allowed to board the ship right away. We have never had issues with embarkation at Port Canaveral, but with the number of cruises we have taken, we knew what to expect and how to enjoy as much time on the ship as possible. We grabbed a quick bite at Cabanas then changed into our swimming suites to enjoy the pool in the Quiet Cove. There were tons of kids on the ship (it is a Disney Cruise however) but the noise level was so low in the Quite Cove, I forgot all about them.

This was the first time we saw the Dream since it was in dry Dock. It was truly amazing. The ship was beautiful and the improvements to the adult areas was outstanding. This ship was very clean and well kept. the service was absolutely amazing. There just isn't enough good things to say about our time on the Dream. We had no children with us this time and spent the majority of our time in the Quiet Cove. After the mandator safety drill, we went back to our cabin to hang out before dinner, and were pleasantly surprised to find our luggage already in front of our door. Our Cabin was exceptional, as always. We chose a smaller, ocean view with a verandah. It was large for our needs. The cabin was beautiful, and very clean. The bed was soft and comfortable for us. We love the split bathroom because we can both get ready at the same time. Our room host, Healine, was wonderful and took care of us like we were royalty. I recently had surgery on my shoulder and she brought us extra pillows to rest my arm on and she made sure all our needs were met. She also made sure my wife and I were headed in the right direction when we got turned around from time to time.

I was pleasantly surprised that Monday Night Football was playing on the FunnelVision, and in one of the pubs for adults. But I was even more surprised that they played all the Thanksgiving games too. So I was able to get a little football fix while on board. The service on-board was fantastic. They were there to meet our every need. I joked with one of the servers about how I could use a hotdog with mustard, and low and behold, he brought me one back with a drink I ordered.

We love sitting out on the verandah, enjoying a drink and watching the sun set.

Port Reviews

Port Canaveral (Orlando)

Clean and quick!! We arrived, and waited in, 2 minutes at the most. They gave us a low boarding group number, and they were already boarding groups 1 - 10, so we got to walk right onto the ship.

Castaway Cay

We went over to Serenity Bay and swam and enjoyed a few drinks. Lunch was good. We also did a lot of shopping for souvenirs. The weather was perfect, not to hot, and it was a gorgeous sunny day.
