This was supposed to be a taster,as this was our first ever cruise, and we wanted to see if this type of holiday was for us, as the wife suffers with COPD and has problems now flying which we always did for our holidays to USA. The reason we booked Cunard QE is because we were advised that Cunard were the best. We decided that we wanted the best so paid for a cabin with balcony unobstructed. I appreciate that the boat has to be full, so cheaper deals our done, but we expected as per their web site that you get a five star service, whatever price paid, which we feel and were very disappointed with the cruise to the things listed below: 1 - On Embarkation we had a photo taken with the bell boys, which we purchased, and were then told to go to an area and we would be escorted to our cabin. No one was there and we found our own cabin. 2 - First morning we were woke up at about 8-45am with a breakfast that we had not ordered as the person delivering it got the wrong cabin and then apologised and took to the right cabin presumably. 3 - Their book and rules for evening attire states no blue denim after 18:00 hours but we witnessed quite a few people men and women with blue jeans on, and when we asked about this was told that due to the QE just returning from a world cruise they probably were relaxing the rules. 4 we were woke up the next two mornings with the next cabin blaring out the TV early in the morning. 5 - A lot of the staff looked tired and a lot of them did not even smile. ( Were they over worked) . 6 - We wanted to do the afternoon high tea but could not book for this and when went to the area the queue was huge so we passed on this , and cannot understand why this is not a bookable only time slot. If booking full then at least this would be our fault. 7 - we were advised that there would be at least one formal night but when the itinerary was received was disappointed to find out that all nights were informal. We did still dress up and had photographs taken which we bought with an album at the cost of around 270 dollars approx, which we wanted to do as this was the beginning, hopefully of the start of our cruising holidays. We are not normally people to complain but feel that this was a very impersonal cruise, and were only advised of things in a paper, which we partly understand like a programme of daily events but found out a lot of things from your other passengers, rather than your staff. One passenger we spoke to was a platinum card holder with Cunard and he even commented he was not impressed with the food, entertainment and the staff this cruise and also said that we should try another cruise, as in his opinion this was just a fill in after the world cruise. To be fair this is how we felt that Cunard now had our money, and we did,not matter, so where was the Five Star Service. We were looking forward to this so much which we had saved for, as are both in our sixties now and thought this would be our future holidays to come. Their customer services (as this was part of an email I sent to them ) eventually offered us some something they could do for us to get us back but when I said I always wanted to do the fjords, they have ignored my email. Ah well they have lost out as I have now booked with celebrity cruises to try them.

This was supposed to be a taster,as this was our first ever cruise, and we wanted to see if this type of holiday was for us, as the wife suffers with COPD and has problems now flying which we always did for our holidays to USA.

Cabin Review

Balcony
Cabin BC
Cannot remember cabin number but it was on the fourth deck balcony unobstructed. It was smaller than I thought. We where near the lifts. Think it was B something. The lady that did our room was ok, not good English and not very helpful. Again she said that they had just end worked 6 months and around 14 hours a day! This I am sorry to say was not my fault and still expected 5 star, which they claim.
