I do not know how many cruises I have been on, but I continue to enjoy them. RCCL has been a big part of my cruising experience. I am Diamond level member, and the Diamond staff member did an incredible job is taking care of us. The best ever! I took a 9 day cruise from Baltimore to Bermuda and the Caribbean. Departing from Baltimore is fantastic. Very easy to get to the port, they take your bags right from your trunk, parking is less costly than New York, and the terminal is right there. Fantastic. I wish more than the Grandeur and Carnival Pride sailed from there. I see RCCL is doing three itineraries from Baltimore, which is good. Carnival does two.
I was there early (by 11;00 AM) and although the crowd was building check in went very quickly. Then it was off to the ship. This is where I was not totally pleased. As you “think” you are going to walk on to the ship a large line stopped you. You waited on it and moved up. It was not until you got close to the head of the line that you saw it was for the wrist bands for children. There should have been a sign. Than, if you are on My Time Dining they send you to another line. After standing behind about 30 people you find out you only had to stand in line if you had not reserved a particular time. I had. You walk and see a table with the soda cups on it and another line. Since I had purchased the package I thought I had to get my cup here. After standing on another line, I found out my cup was in the cabin. It took me way too long to stand on uninstructed lines. Tell people what they are.
I love the size of the ship. You get to know people and see them onboard. I will take this some 90,000 ton ship over the mega ships. The Grandeur is 20 years old and showing it. They need to update it – soon. It was kept rather clean on the inside I will say. The hull and decks were full of rust, dirt and peeling paint.
