We chose this cruise number one because it fit the dates we had off for vacation. The port closest to home is Galveston and there were 4 different ships leaving during our time frame. The Freedom had the itinerary we most wanted to try - Jamaica, Grand Cayman and Cozumel. We sailed on the Freedom last year to the Bahamas and loved the ship, so we knew we'd have another great cruise and couldn't go wrong. The staff treated us well last cruise with a few exceptions, but this time there were no exceptions, the staff was better than ever and we have no complaints.

The ports were great and on the ship there was always plenty to do. The food can be hit or miss, but there is always something we can find that we like and if we don't we'll just get something else. I do wish the buffet would be open later, that would be awesome.

Cabin Review

Balcony

Cabin 8D

The cabin was normal, a very decent size for a ship. The balcony size is great. i loved having a cabin on the Lido level - so convenient. This particular cabin is right in front of a group of main elevators near the open area to the atrium, so was bit loud at times, especially with kids hanging out in the middle of the night yelling. I wouldn't get this particular cabin again just because it's right there at the elevators, but would definitely get it on the lido level again, just a little bit away from any main lobby areas.

Port Reviews

Galveston

Galveston for me is just a place to sail out of. Not my favorite place, I think the water is kind of icky and it's not very exciting.

Montego Bay

I did take an excursion but not through the ship. I did a tour with Liberty tours and went to the Blue hole where we did cliff jumping. It was beautiful and awesome and the guides were amazing.

Grand Cayman (Georgetown)

No excursions this day. Today was our beach day and we decided to hop on a city bus and spend the day at the 7 mile beach. We found a spot near Calico Jack's restaurant, but not too close. For $60 we rented 2 beach loungers, an umbrella and a half hour jet ski rental. This beach is beautiful and although it gets crowded I've seen much worse. My husband enjoyed relaxing under the umbrella while I enjoyed playing in the warm water. It was just so beautiful.
