This will be short because of time. We took this because of the amazing itinerary - some ports of which have now been deleted. Ravenna was wonderful but they stopped going there. Kotor is a great port for the sail in (90 minutes) through the fjords and the walk to the fort -1700 steps!) The ship this time let us down. We've been on the BOTS before and loved it. Cabin crew was great but upper level staff were often pompous and Nasty. The captain was never around the ship and his daily announcements were always mumbled. (NO ONE understood them). They now CHARGE for pastries in the Cafe Latitudes (unless you BUY a high pruiced coffee). MTD is still a problem getting folks seated. The entertainment was really poor. (The audience actually walked out on a singer one night when he forgot the words!). Royal seems to be cutting back on staff. There was definitely a shortage in the MDR and there was almost always a wait for a table in MTD even with a reservation. They eliminated the Lobster Tail dinner (You can buy for $30 up charge any night for 1 1/4 lb lobster). It is replaced by Jumbo Shrimp. No longer free pasteries in Cafe Latitudes and the ONLY place for free regular coffee at night is in the Windjammer - and the pot often empty. As I noted. the top staff was often rude and pompous. We've never had that before. And the Captain's daily comments were mumbled and NO ONE could hear him,. This may have been the least interesting on-board experience we've had on many RCI cruises - except for cabin stewards and Windjammer staff, who were great. . The MAIN reason to take this cruise itinerary is the itinerary itself. This was a port intensive cruise and so the ports kept us happy. But there is definitely a cut back in service from other than the staff in the Windjammer and the ALWAYS excellent cabin Stewards. We went in June to avoid lots of Children as well as the HEAT. I know that in July and August there were issues with many kids hogging the pool and spa. Yes, we'll use RCI again based on the itinerary and price. I highly recommend this itinerary (but know that you are 90 minutes from Rome and Florence in those ports and account for transport costs. WE used train in both cases)

12 days of GREAT PORTS; the management crew on the BOTS needs to be trained though.

Cabin Review

Cabin 4004
The cabin was fine and we liked that it was not a "thru hall" so no one walked by.
Bed comfortable and we liked the head being below the large window. And - for first time in a while - there was plenty of storage space
