A couple of years ago we did a Baltic cruise with Celebrity from Amsterdam and vowed that if we ever saw a cruise with 3 days in St Petersburg we would take it. So we did!
As background information on us, we are British expats who live in the USA, and we have cruised Celebrity many times so are Elite Plus. We booked with the drinks package and OBC from Celebrity and tips prepaid by our travel agent.
Embarkation was very quick. We checked in around 10:45am and sat in the waiting room until they started to call boarding groups at 11. I think we were the 4th group, and were on board by 11:15.
Great cabin right next to the midships stairwell. The cabin has an oversized angled balcony. There was no noise from the grand foyer or neighbouring cabins. There was some wind noise from the sliding door as the seal didn't always fit tightly. Have broke the same cabin again for next year.
We were in port from 7-3. We rebooked a taxi that dropped us in Bruges at 8:30, but none of the attractions or shops opened until 10am. Taking a canal cruise is a must do. Would have liked longer in port as we had to get a taxi back at 1:30.
We stayed where we docked, in Warnemunde, for the day. Very nice seaside town to wander around and eat lunch in.
We were able to walk from where the ship docked to the Little Mermaid statue, then along the waterfront into the centre of the city. Very walkable. No need for a tour.
